Pakistan LeT chief Abdul Makki has been blacklisted as global terrorist by UN
Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) deputy chief Abdul Rehman Makki has been blacklisted as a global terrorist by the United Nations.
Makki was designated as a global terrorist by the UN after China lifted its hold on a joint India-US proposal to blacklist the deputy chief of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT).
Over the years China sought to block number of Pakistan-based terrorists from listing as global terrorists and Makki was of them.
The UN Security Council’s Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee added Makki to its list of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban, and arms embargo on Monday.
Makki has already been listed as a terrorist by India and the United States. Makki was among a number of Pakistan-based terrorists designated as global terrorist now.
Makki is the brother-in-law of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and has been in various leadership roles within the terrorist organisation.
